Option: 2 Diversified farming with Bonduelle and Vivescia

Bonduelle field visit

During the field visit at EARL des Peupliers, hosted by Bonduelle producer, Olivier Deneufbourg, participants will have the opportunity to delve into the practical and environmental aspects of managing a diversified farm. The visit will begin with an indoor farm presentation that highlights the history of the various actions to reduce the environmental impact of the farming practices and maintain the economic situation at the same time.  Special focus on soil organic matter and the crucial actions the farm is taking to reverse the negative trend. A guided tour of the farm will allow participants to see firsthand the farm’s crop rotation strategies and how they’re working to improve soil health and ensure sustainability. Participants will also explore how collective action plays a pivotal role in regenerative practices, including the ARA-Blé Project in collaboration with Valfrance cooperative and supported by McDonald’s and Bimbo to help address environmental and economic challenges.

The visit will also feature presentations from key industry partners such as OPLVERT, who will discuss the collective approach to vegetable farming and its environmental benefits. The importance of ongoing technical support will be addressed by Unilet, emphasising the need for ongoing training and innovation to ensure best practices are followed and continuous improvement is achieved. Participants will learn about Bonduelle’s collaborative actions with Icosystème and hear about upcoming initiatives with Agro Paris Tech aimed at advancing regenerative agriculture. This visit provides a unique opportunity to learn from a family-owned farm with the objective to manage both economic performance and environmental responsibility, all while exploring the broader efforts being made to scale regenerative agriculture across the industry.

Vivescia field visit

Join us for a unique field visit hosted by Vivescia, a leading farming cooperative based in the Reims region, where we’ll explore their innovative Transition Programme. Participants will visit the farm of Stéphane Schumacher, located in Villers Sous Chatillon, to see firsthand how a progressive farmer is transitioning to regenerative practices. Stéphane’s farm employs a conservative farming approach, using no-till methods, extensive cover cropping, and a highly diversified crop rotation that includes durum and soft wheat, barley, corn, soybean, rapeseed, sunflower, and miscanthus. Stéphane’s commitment to regenerative agriculture is reflected in his use of cutting-edge technologies, including two satellite-based decision support tools that optimise nitrogen fertilisation for wheat and rapeseed.

Having been engaged in Vivescia’s regenerative agriculture programme for one year, Stéphane is already achieving impressive results, positioning him as an ideal pilot farmer for the Regenerating Together Framework (RTF). This visit provides an invaluable opportunity to engage in a real-world discussion about the practicalities of implementing regenerative practices at the farm level and will offer insights into the similarities between Vivescia’s Transition Programme and the RTF. Don’t miss the chance to learn from Stéphane’s experience and explore how the wider farming community can scale regenerative agriculture across the industry.
